Coach Vittorio Anastasio and wrestlers Ricky Noncon and Jacen Canales headed to Bakersfield for the CIF one division State Wrestling Championships. It’s a massive tournament with close to 500 of the top wrestlers competing in 14 different weight classes. The tournament is run on ten mats all in one big stadium. This was the first trip to state for Coach Anastasio as a Lincoln coach and for the two wrestlers. Jacen being a senior, this was his first and last chance at the tournament and Ricky Noncon being a junior should have another shot at it next year. Both wrestlers drew eventual placers and went 0-2 but both capped off a successful rebuilding season and were leaders on the squad setting up Lincoln to be a powerhouse program contending for a city championship in the near future and most possibly next year. Jacen plans to study film production and work on becoming an emt. As a film maker he has already been awarded some grants for his projects and was the yearbook team photographer this season. Ricky will be our team captain next season.
