About Us

Abraham Lincoln High School Wrestling is a San Francisco public high school team that participates in the CIF through San Francisco AAA Section.   Starting in the 2019-2020 Season Coach Vittorio (Vic) Anastasio took over as the head wrestling coach.   The 2020-2021 was cancelled due to covid and the team ran a reduced modified season for the 2021-2022 season.  Coach Mike Frias takes over as the head coach for the 2022-2023 season as Coach Anastasio has to deal with some health issues and will be helping as an assistant this year mostly remotely and hopefully return to the mat before the season ends.  The program has a wrestling dedicated matroom and fields a Boys Varsity and JV squad as well as a Girls team.  The girl’s team qualifies to state championships through the Central Coast Section. Mike Frias – Head Coach

Michael Frias takes on the head coach position for the 2022-2023 season after being an assistant for the Mustangs since 2019.  Coach Frias wrestled for Coach Anastasio at Archbishop Riordan where he was a team captain, Student Body President, Salutatorian, WCAL Champion, and is one of only 11 wrestlers to have 100 career Varsity  wins at the school.  Mike is a UCLA graduate who runs a  music production and promotion business.

 

Vittorio (Vic) Anastasio – Assistant coach – former Head Coach

Coach Anastasio became the head coach at Lincoln in 2019 and for the 2022-23 season he has had to step back due to some health issues and hopes to be back on the mat soon.  He will continue to support the program remotely in the mean time.  Coach Vittorio Anastasio previously worked and coached at Archbishop Riordan High School from 1984-2017.  As a coach he accumulated 205-126 Overall Record, 82-42 WCAL Record, 2011 CCS Team Trophy, 7 Top 10 CCS finishes, two top 25 finishes in the State Championships, Coached 5 CIF State Placers, 35 CCS Medalists, 50 WCAL Champions.  Coach Anastasio has been inducted into Riordan’s Athletic Hall of Fame and the California Wrestling Hall of Fame for Life Time Achievement.

Outside of Coaching Wrestling, Anastasio was a Science Teacher, Guidance Counselor, Department Chair, Dean of Students, Principal, and Interim President.  He currently owns his own company and is the CEO of the non-profit corporation – SF Elite Wrestling.    He is the father of identical twin daughters in middle school.  He and his family reside in San Francisco’s  Richmond District.

 

JOSE CARDOZA – Assistant coach

Jose started coaching at Lincoln in 2021.  He is a graduate of Archbishop Riordan High School where he was a varsity wrestler and team captain.  He is now an Emergency Medical Technician.

 

 

 

 

Donny Bendo – Assistant coach

Donny Bendo will be starting his first season with the mustangs for the 2022-2023 season.  Donny is a graduate of Archbishop Riordan High School where he was an outstanding wrestler with a 101-29 varsity career record.  He was an assistant to Coach Vittorio Anastasio at Riordan for 7 season where he was an assistant varsity coach and head freshman coach and led the frosh teams to either a top 2 place finish or a championship during his career.   He most recently was an assistant coach at Burlingame High School for several years.  Donny is a lieutenant in the fire department and his the head of the fire departments youth sports program called FLAME.

Mission Statement 

Lincoln Wrestling is focused on building character through sport.   The program provides a positive community and educational approach that embraces the challenges of competition and applies those concepts to life.   Wrestlers will not only learn the techniques and strategies of the sport, but they also will learn about commitment, nutrition, sportsmanship, psychology, and integrity.    Wrestling promotes strength, conditioning, improves positive self -image and healthy self – esteem. Principals of the wrestling program are applied to academics and preparation for life.
